Free Baby Bags, Kits, and Boxes in 2024/2025

In 2024, I signed up for “free” baby things from Amazon, Target, Macys, and Babylist. I checked my old Enfamil and Similac accounts. I was going to possibly sign up for buybuy Baby and Walmart, but both of those were out of stock every time I checked.

Some of these are not available if you do not reside in the continental US.

I originally thought I would skip free baby boxes this time, but I decided to sign up in hopes of getting a variety of pacifiers and bottles to try with my future child. In 2020, I received a total of one pacifier, which my weeks-old baby spat with an audible “pwee!” across the room in a beautiful arc, and multiple baby bottles, which were useful for seeing what my child preferred.

Baby Registry Welcome Box from Amazon.com

Amazon’s Baby Registry Welcome Box comes with a small tote. The samples are inside.

To get Amazon’s Baby Registry Welcome Box, you need to have Amazon Prime. If you have already claimed an Amazon Baby Welcome Box for your first child, you can use the same Prime account to claim another 8 consecutive months after you last redeemed a welcome box. That sounds pretty reasonable; very few people are going to give birth within 8 months of the previous child.

If you already have Amazon Prime, simply:

  1. Start your new registry for the new child. You will need to give the child a placeholder name and provide the due date.
  2. Populate the baby registry by completing the checklist. This means checking off that you already have the item in the subcategory or adding items to your registry for each of the 74 subcategories.
  3. Have $10 of merchandise bought off your baby registry, excluding shipping and taxes.
  4. Add the Welcome Box to the cart, make sure to not uncheck the $35 of credit, and you will get it for free.

Useful Note: If buying off your own registry to fulfil the $10 requirement, you can add the Welcome Box to the cart holding the item(s) that qualify you for the free welcome box and do it all in one transaction.

You also will get 15% off discount that can be used on multiple orders from the registry for two months before the due date.

You could get these things in your Amazon Baby Box in September, 2024.

My baby box arrived after 8 days. Inside of my Amazon shipping box was an Amazon baby tote which contained:

  • 1 Amazing Baby Newborn Muslim Swaddle (36 in x 36 in cotton blanket).
  • 1 Amazon Essentials Baby Onesie (3-6M, cotton).
  • 1 Dr. Brown’s Natural Flow Anti-Colic bottle (4 oz size, narrow bottle type, nipple cut is Level 1).
  • 2 Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirants, one marketed for women and one marketed for men. (1 oz each)
  • 1 CeraVe Baby Wash and Shampoo (1 fl oz).
  • 1 pack of Lansinoh Nursing Pad and Breastmilk Storage Bag samples (2 of each).
  • Coupons for Shutterfly, Lansinoh Postpartum Padsicles, and Hello Fresh; ads for babybrezza and Pampers; and a reminder to go shopping on Amazon.com.

Hello Baby Box from babylist

The Hello Baby Box from babylist in January, 2025.

Babylist’s Hello Baby Box requires a $30 purchase and then $8.95 shipping + tax. Expecting mothers can get one box per year.

  1. Sign up to create a Baby Registry.
  2. Add three items from other stores to your registry AND complete at least 40% of your registry checklist.
  3. Have a purchase of at least $30 made off your registry specifically from the Babylist Shop.
  4. Find and click the Hello Baby Box tile on the Registry page.
  5. Agree that you want to get the Hello Baby Box.
  6. Pay $8.95 + tax to get the Hello Baby Box.

I made my qualifying order on December 30th. Immediately after the order, the site said I could order the baby box. They do charge tax on shipping, so I paid $9.54 to receive the box, excluding the qualifier purchase.

I was amused by the free will offer, but it makes sense as something to offer to new parents who may not have thought about it. I did finally get a pacifier from one of the baby boxes!

BABY Registry Welcome Box from buybuy Baby

Unfortunately, according to their registry FAQs on September 12, 2024, “Our new buybuy BABY Registry Welcome Boxes will be available soon. Stay tuned!” In other words, currently unavailable.

I got one of these in 2020. We went in-store to do the sign-up and get the bag. It was basically a mini-consultation. We also received a small catalogue about all the wonderful things my baby could have. The bag and its contents were underwhelming but did have one baby bottle.

Baby Box from Macys

In January, 2025, Macy’s Baby Box looks like this.

Macy’s Baby Box is a new thing. It required a baby registry, buying $50 off it, and then paying $4.50 for the box, $2 for a shipping/handling surcharge, and paying $10.95 shipping OR shipping it with an order of at least $25. There is no option to pick-up in store.

  1. Sign up for a Macys account or log in to an existing account.
  2. Create a baby registry.
  3. Purchase $50 from the registry.
  4. Pay $4.50 for the box + $2 as a shipping/handling surcharge + either $10.95 shipping or reach the order minimum for free shipping.

I made my order for the Baby Box and another item to get me free shipping on January 8, 2025. The other item arrived in a week. The baby box took close to 3 weeks to arrive.

The contents of Macy’s Baby Box in 2025.

I received my box on January 28th. The box is clearly labeled “macy’s Gift Registry” on the outside, so you will know what it is before you open it. The box contained:

  • 1 Baby Gund Lil Luvs Emory Fox (0+)
  • 2 Parasol diapers (size 1)
  • 1 BUMKiNs bib with a llama pattern
  • 1 sample of mini bloom Fresh N’ Clean Hair+ Body Wash (0.17 fl oz / 5 ml)
  • 1 Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair (0.23 fl oz / 7 ml)
  • 1 Lancôme Advanced Génefique (0.27 fl oz / 8 ml)

Many of the reviews for this on Macys are negative and just one star. I can see why people would be disappointed. For a paid box that had a $50 qualifier and costs either $6.50 + $25 in other items for free shipping or $17.45 straight, this was not very worth it. I was hoping for baby pacifiers, and this had none. If you are already had items in mind to purchase from Macys, the box is okay.

Baby Registry Welcome Box from Walmart

At the time I write this, on September 12, 2024, Walmart’s Baby Registry Welcome Box is sold out.

Welcome Kit from Target

To get Target’s Free Welcome Kit, you must be signed up for Target Circle, which is free. I already got a kit a few years ago, and I could not find any FAQ about how frequently one can receive a baby welcome kit. The terms and conditions note that it is limited to one coupon (for the welcome kit) per year.

When I asked their Chat, Walter of Target told me, “I see for your second baby, if your looking to create a new registry, you need to delete the old registry and then create a new one, then you will be eligible to get welcome kit, 15% off coupons and other benefits.” He emphasized that I must DELETE the old registry rather than edit. In my case, I suppose 2020 was so long ago that they already deleted my old registry for me, because I had no option to delete anything and Target let me know that you can only have one baby registry at a time, anyway.

  1. Be signed up for Target Circle, which is free.
  2. Create your baby registry. You will need to provide your name and confirm your shipping address.
  3. Add 10 unique items to your baby registry.
  4. Make a $10+ purchase.

In 2020, it worked like this: You were issued a coupon within 24-48 hours that then could be used to redeem the welcome kit in-person at the store. I read that you could get the baby Welcome Kit mailed at one point, but I was not able to do that in 2020.

However, in 2024, you apparently can only get the baby Welcome Kit by mail. Two months before your due date, you also receive a 15% off coupon that can be used two times and which expires in 6 months from issue.

I thought I made my qualifying order on November 3, 2024, and picked it up on November 5th. On the 7th, I contacted Target to find out why the order did not count. Clyde of Target could only tell me that the records said the order did not count and told me to do the same thing I did before, which was to press “Buy now” off the registry page. The only difference between this time and last time is that I already visited the page for the item I was going to buy last time. This time, opening it up fresh added a line below the item that noted “from Sophie’s Baby Registry” in the cart. Target support said that they could mark the item as purchased, but that would not make it count towards the Welcome Kit. He recommended that I return and repurchase.

I made another qualifying order on December 28th, picked up the order that day, and waited for the email.

I did not receive a notification email with a barcode for in-store pick up or to tell me that I qualified for anything, but, when I logged in online on December 30th, it said “Claim now”. Clicking that added the “Baby Registry Welcome Kit” to my online shopping cart. That meant needing $35 of purchases for free shipping or paying $6.39 in shipping.

Unfortunately, when I was ready to make a purchase and claim my baby bag on January 26th, they were out of stock.

Baby Formula Samples or Coupons from Enfamil

After logging into my old Enfamil Family Beginnings account at https://www.enfamil.com/, it reactivated. I added my new pregnancy to my profile.

If you have no preexisting account, I believe the steps to possibly get something is to make an Enfamil account, fill in the profile, and wait.

Last time, I received formula roughly two months before I give birth. I believe it was a can of regular Neuropro and a can of Gentlease.

This time, at 22 weeks, Enfamil sent a $5 coupon for Enfamom and reminded me that they would send some baby badges, which are little circles with age in months marked on them.

At 32 weeks, I received a box with two sample cans of formula and two coupons, one for $15 and one for $5.

Baby Formula Samples or Coupons from Similac

Similac does not have a place to add pregnancies to an existing account, so the free baby formula samples might have been a per account thing. It is possible one could get more coupons and formula samples if one made a new account.

Last time, in 2020, I received formula roughly 2 months before I gave birth. I think it was 3 cans of powder and a 6-pack of ready-to-drink.

In 2024, at around 24 weeks, I received 4 coupons, 2 for $30 and 2 for $10.

Note: The Similac site had issues logging me in with Firefox Private Browsing. I had to switch to an Edge browser to log in.

Breast Pumps

If you live in the United States, insurance usually pays for one breast pump per pregnancy. Last time, my OB-Gyn office gave me a form to fill out to get a breast pump. I got to pick one of their five options.

This time, I used babylist’s breast pump page. It was very simple:

  1. Log into your existing babylist account.
  2. Visit this page, enter your insurance information, and pick the breast pump you want.
  3. Baby list needs the prescription. Theycontacted my OB-Gyn’s office for me after I entered the name and office details.
  4. babylist checks one more time with insurance to make sure what you picked is actually free or whatever price they claimed if you picked an option that costs.
  5. Wait for the breast pump to arrive! Mine took about one week to be approved and shipped.

I chose a Baby Buddha breast pump that will hopefully make me less bound to an electric socket by the wall this time around.
