Dining in Breckenridge, CO, US, in 2025

In summer of 2025, I stopped at these eateries in Breckenridge, CO. Breckenridge is a mountain town that seems very tourist-oriented, but it is very nice for walking. It was easy to push a stroller around most of the time.

I did have to drink a lot of water, probably because of the dryness at the altitude. The morning I woke up feeling best, I drank 64 ounces of water overnight. (Also relevant is that I was breastfeeding during this trip, which necessitates some extra water intake.)

These are not necessarily the best places to eat, but they are places I visited in 2025. In alphabetical order, they are: Clint’s Bakery & Coffee House, Columbine Café, Crepes a la Cart, Flip Side Breckridge, La Française French Bakery, Mom’s Baking Company, Mountain View Coffee Bar, and Whiskey Star Smokehouse. It looks like the tax rate was 8.875%.

Clint’s Bakery & Coffee House

131 S Main St, Breckenridge, CO 80424

Slice of Carrot cake and a day-old muffin from Clint’s Bakery in Breckenridge, CO.

Clint’s Bakery had several cakes on the counter to purchase by the slice. The carrot cake slice (US$5.95) was not bad. My preschooler had a chocolate cupcake (US$5.75) and did not complain. They had a “Day Old” box where items were US$2 each. When I visited at 7 PM, the contents of this box were two bagels, a slice of cake, a peach-ginger (?) muffin, and a salt and chocolate chunk cookie.

Columbine Café

109 S Main St, Breckenridge, CO 80424

Columbine Cafe is a friendly breakfast place. They provided a coloring page and cup of crayons to distract hungry children. Waffle was fluffy and biscuits were dense. I personally prefer a less bready sort of biscuit, but they were not bad.

Bathroom is in neighboring building and requires a key to access. When the wait was long, they suggested going downstairs to the arcade bathroom.

Crêpes a la Cart

307 South Main Street, Breckenridge, CO 80424

Crêpes a la Cart had multiple crepe options beyond the usual plain, nutella-banana, etc. We tried German Apple Strudel (US$13), which, though delicious, had some cinnamon bombs that forced me to drink water, and Crêpe Suzette, which was quite nice after I got over my surprise at the texture of the orange webbing.

They post that they charge an extra 3% to cover merchant fees if you use a credit card. There is an additional surcharge of US$0.25 to have foil wrapped around each crêpe.

Flip Side Breckenridge

320 S Main St, Breckenridge, CO 80424

The jumbo-sized onion rings at Flip Side Breckenridge were the biggest I have ever seen.

Flip Side is a burger place that had some very, very good sauces. The Colossal Onion Rings were as jumbo as one could imagine and the biggest I have ever seen. They offer a bison burger, which I tried and thought was fine.

They claim to have a world-famous Pad Thai that was not like other Pad Thai that I have had. I was very disappointed. It is possible that people who are not as used to the Asian palate may like this strange Pad Thai a lot.

Can roll a stroller to their top floor tables. No changing tables in the bathrooms.

Note: Very friendly. Allowed my preschooler to use their restroom without dining when we were shopping nearby the next afternoon.

La Française French Bakery

411 S Main Street Breckenridge, CO 80424

A few items from La Française French Bakery in Breckenridge, CO.

La Française French Bakery looked like there were a lot of sweet options. They had 5 different beignets, but the French meringue caught my eye. It was large and looked light.

My preschooler tremendously enjoyed the cinnamon beignet (US$4.85). It did have a good texture and a pleasant sugar-cinnamon ratio. I thought it was the best item of the four we tried!

The apple croissant (US$5.30) had some pudding-cream-thing to add a bit more softness and sweetness—- and it was visually attractive. It was average in taste and a bit wet.

The Fluff Amaretti Cookie (US$3) was nice and soft.

I looked forward to the French meringue (US$3.50) the most, but it was the most disappointing. I really like melt-in-the-mouth meringue cookies, but it is difficult to find because it requires more effort to make. This meringue was harder than I remember the nicest, lightest one I have ever had being and also had candied hard clumps on the back that disrupted the expected texture.

They charge a 3% baker fee.

Mom’s Baking Company

Entrance on Lincoln Ave, 100 N Main St, Breckenridge, CO 80424

At Moms Baking Company, the staff was very positive and chipper even early in the morning. I enjoyed their positivity. The design of the shop was pretty and evokes a comfortable, fun pretending-we-want-to-look-elegant-but-we-really-want-to-be-cozy feel. It might sound funny, but it it nicely put together.

The Veggie Bagel (US$13) was basically avocado toast with everything added except that it was on a bagel.

The Bacon Croissant (US$12) was good. My brother thought it would be better with some lettuce and onions, but the only add-on was avocado.

What was labeled behind the glass as a Spinach Mushroom Strudel (US$10.75) was on the receipt as a Spinach Omelet Strudel. I was offered the option of having it warmed.

Mini Venecek (US$3.45) was delicious, too!

Their baked spiced tea (US$5.50) was very delicious, according to my companion.

Mountain View Coffee Bar

222 S Main St, Breckenridge, CO 80424

The mood of the Mountain View Coffee Bar was very relaxed and casual, designed as an actual space to hang out and chat and drink coffee. There were soft seats and low tables. The coffee was normal. The “Cider” was actually warm spiced apple cider, and the spice balance was excellent!

Whiskey Star Smokehouse

231 S Main St, Breckenridge, CO 80424

Whiskey Star Smokehouse is obviously a barbecue place. My short impression would be… Ribs were a bit too dry, brisket was fantastic, pulled pork was average. Disclaimer: I seldom eat barbecue.

The most amusing detail was that the water vessels were former vodka bottles with “H2O” pasted on and all references to alcohol content or vodka sharpied out.

Like other families in their patio, we rolled our stroller up to the table. This made them quite family friendly.

Other Places/Things I Noticed

Gondola

While not a shop, the gondola is worth noting. The gondola gave me the best view I have ever had while breastfeeding! You are allowed to ride up, stay on, and ride back down.

It was free to ride up to and down from Peak 8. My companions rode it to Peak 7 to hike to Peak 8, whereupon they rode the gondola back down.

BreckCreate

There was an information table in an open space that had children’s crafts on the weekends and gave information about planned weekend programming.

9600 Stories

9600 Stories in Breckenridge, CO, advertized as the highest elevation bookstore and closed every time I walked past.

This highest elevation bookstore, 9600 Stories, was closed every time I walked by. I walked past on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday between 10 AM and 5 PM.

In the window was a handwritten sign with changes marked from the previous year. Because the sign was originally for October, crossed out for December, and then unchanged by the time I walked by in August, I started to wonder if the bookshop is permanently closed…

A Cookie Shop (I forgot its name.)

The cookies are US$5.95 each. However, each item is actually a cookie sandwich with buttercream or cookie dough cream or something else in the centre. The Buy 6 get 2 free caught my attention, but you would be basically getting 16 cookies. Which is a lot. I did not buy any cookies here.

I Scream Gelato

The name was amusing and the gelato was piled high, but Small Sophie was not interested.
